| School Involvement A close relationship between home and school is hugely beneficial to pupils, staff and parents. At TES we actively encourage this close relationship and the opportunities to be involved in your child’s school life is many and varied. Many parents assist teachers in the classroom, listening to readers or helping in resource making activities. Another activity which is particularly popular with TES parents, especially the fathers, is coaching on the Saturday Football teams. TES Saturday Football runs from September to May and is very popular. In the Primary section, each class has a Class Parent (or ideally two) who act as the link between the class teacher and the parents. This vital role is both enriching and a great way to become involved in your child’s class activities. TES also has Open Weeks when parents are invited to see their child’s class in action. It is important to remember that every parent can also make an important daily contribution to their child’s education by helping them with their homework. They can do this by helping them to organise their time so things are not left to the last minute and also by taking an active interest in their child’s homework and not just insisting that it’s done. The British Section also has an active Parent Teachers Association (BSPTA) that has the role of representing parent’s opinions in school affairs and planning social events for the school and the community as a whole. The BSPTA helps to organise a number of events throughout the year which enhance and enrich the school and help to raise the school’s profile. These events include monthly coffee mornings, Bake Sales, TES Book Fair, the Autumn Festival, TES Christmas Bazaar, and the TES Summer Fair. The final area where parents can become involved is serving on the Board of Governors. They are elected by parents and play a very important role in helping TES to continue to be a centre of excellence.
