| The video below is a quick snapshot of the kind of learning regularly taking place at the EPC campus.

How is this taught?
A breakdown.
As and example, the ICT in-class specialist plans and delivers lessons alongside the class teacher. At the beginning of the academic year, Year 2 focuses on a topic called “All About Me”. The ICT specialist uses an adapted UK scheme of work (Wokingham) and progression chart (FOBISSEA) to hone in on what the children can cover in a 6-week time frame. At the same time he is with Year 3 and their topic “The Human Body”. |

The class teacher will assist in the planning and the delivery of ICT-led topic work while the ICT specialist creates bespoke resources and researches the best Apps and equipment to promote creative learning.
All this is on a topic-by-topic basis. When the topic ends the ICT specialist will move to another part of the school and deliver in the same way for another set of year groups. The ICT in-class specialist will always be in two separate year groups plus early years at any one time in the year.
While the ICT in-class specialist is not with those year groups the other year groups will have specialist lessons throughout the year.

Above is a snapshot of time and the support children have during ICT lessons at TES in Term 1.1. Every year group thereafter takes turns at having in-class ICT for half a term at a time. The chart below shows that Year 2 and 3 receive this in term 1.1. Specialist teaching learning continues throughout the year with regular 40 minute periods throughout the week for every class.
Curriculum
As outlined above, the curriculum is heavily focused on cross-curricular links and embedding ICT into as much of the other subjects as possible. The key areas for 2012 -2013 are Topic learning where Science is at the core of the subject matter and Mathematics where ICT is sometimes easier to integrate. You will also notice that Literacy is sometimes the focus; the decision is made 3-4 weeks prior to delivery based on the needs of the class teachers and which area best allows ICT to drive the curriculum. |
