Welcome to Taipei European School (TES). We are a vibrant and dynamic school that has grown from humble beginnings in 1990 to become the leading international school in Taipei. Through the unique collaboration and integration of German, British, and French sections we offer the choice of three different European curricula for students from the ages of 3 to 14 years and then a High School programme for 14 to 18 year olds culminating in the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

Our school is proud to have designed a model for curriculum integration in subjects such as music, art, sports and languages where the students of the different sections work together in the same classes depending on their capability. We firmly believe that our students develop admirable qualities of cultural understanding, compassion, empathy and tolerance through their daily life at school which is focused on its mission of ¡§promoting European culture and values within the context of Taiwanese society.¡¨
Our mission also has a strong emphasis on ¡§educational excellence¡¨ where we encourage students to strive to develop to their full potential ¡V not just academically but in a much broader sense through the many cultural, community, artistic, sporti ng and charity activities that feature prominently in our extra-curricular calendar. Wherever possible, TES has an inclusive philosophy and has dedicated language and special needs support programmes for students, where appropriate. TES continues to receive very positive and encouraging reports from inspection agencies from Germany, Britain and France. External testing and examination results are well above national averages and our graduating students from the High School gain places at many of the top universities around the world, principally in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, USA, Canada, Australia and Taiwan.
TES serves the international community within Taipei and has around 61different nationalities represented within its 1,100-strong student body and this brings great cultural diversity which we are keen to celebrate. Language instruction is well developed within TES and, in addition to the medium of either German, English or French in respective sections, we have Dutch and Swedish language support, a strong Chinese Language and Culture programme available to students of all ages, and the opportunity to include Spanish, Korean and Japanese as language options in the IB Diploma.

Over the past decade, TES has constructed purpose-built campuses and facilities in Shihlin for the primary age children and Yang Ming Shan for secondary students. TES is a non-profit foundation and we are extremely grateful for the support and commitment from our Board of Directors, mostly kindly and ably led by Dr. CV Chen, and from our various Governors and parents groups across our school. Local and international companies and individuals have also played a major part through donations and sponsorship of our capital development projects, for example in building Phase 1 in 1998, the High School (Phase 2) in 2002 and more recently the new primary campus in 2007.
I am very proud of the growing regional and worldwide reputation of TES and I have been very fortunate to lead the school through a most dynamic period of growth and development. We continue to formulate exciting plans for the future which will definitely ensure that TES remains ¡§A Piece of Europe in Taiwan.¡¨
